How NOT to start your season

Conklin Forks began its inaugural season in NFA Qual. 4 today. And after 5 games, the Three Wolves are 0-2-3, which would be pathetic enough, but then you add this into the equation. These were the scorelines for the five games:

0-1
0-0
0-1
0-0
0-1

We also played a lingering cup game against a team's AI. Yep, 0-1.

What's wrong? In 51 games prior to the start of the season, Forks were held scoreless 12 times. The most games in a row the club had gone scoreless before this was 3.

Anyway, if preseason showed me anything, it's that Betoligar is half-decent, Fleck is still a little green, Paterson is sporadic and Wilson Parks is an unmitigated piece of crap. I'm currently bidding on some help for up front. Hopefully we can get off this evil duck in short order.

That's pretty spooky. My team, Hampton Harriers, had an equally drab start to the season:

1-1
1-1
0-1
1-1
1-0
1-0
1-1

We spoilt the record by losing our last two games 2-1, but still, goals seem to be at a premium at both ends. Compare it to preseason when we had some bizarre scorelines like 7-3, 5-3, 4-3 and a bagful of 3-2s.

I think maybe managers are just taking things a bit more seriously for the league season, and taking fewer chances. That said, I purposely spent most of my preseason cash on boosting my defence, whilst my attack is clearly still short of investment.
